A portion of your entry fee and/or proceeds from the race will go to one or all of the following 4 non-profit beneficiaries.
Steep Rock Association
The Steep Rock Association has given us the privilege and permission to use their amazing trails in each of their preserves. Their mission is to conserve ecologically and historically significant landscapes in and around Washington, CT and the Shepaug River Valley and to enhance the community’s connection with nature. They will be using their donated funds from the race directly for continued trail maintenance and stewardship.
Families United in Newtown (F.U.N.)
Families United in Newtown was founded by a woman who suddenly lost her autistic son a few years back. She started the organization in remembrance of her son as a way to give back and cope with his passing. F.U.N. holds monthly events for children/adults on the autism spectrum, down syndrome, or are otherwise mentally disabled. They will also play a role in the making of our special Steep Rock awards for our top finishers.
Washington Ambulance Association
The Washington Ambulance Association is an independent non-profit that has been providing service to the Town of Washington and neighboring communities for the last 75 years. Because they provide free emergency response, they rely on dedicated volunteers and generous donations from the community.
Washington Volunteer Fire Department
The Washington Volunteer Fire Department has been serving the Town of Washington for over 90 years. With 60 active members, they provide a great service when needed to the 4000 residents of the community
